VW has gotten permission from the EPA to sell leftover, new, unsold 2015 TDIs. We’ve got the information you need to know about buying one and getting the best deal you can.
With the future of VW diesels in the USA uncertain, unsold 2015 models may be your final chance to get a new TDI. These models were equipped with the latest “Gen 3” engines, producing great power and better-than-ever fuel economy. 2015 also saw design changes and, in the case of the Golf & Sportwagen, an entirely new model and platform.
The Offer
In order to sell this inventory quickly, VW is offering two attractive options for getting a new 2015:
- Finance Option: $5,000 off MSRP + 0% APR for 72 months (or less)
- Lease Option: $8,500 off MSRP + 24 month lease
While the cars are two years old, we think that this is a great off, especially the lease offer!
Importantly, though, VW WILL NOT sell you the car for cash.
Before Delivery Service
You might be concerned that with the amount of time these cars have sat and potential problems. Before delivery, all unsold 2015 vehicles will be getting a special service that includes:
- New Tires
- New Brakes – Pads & Rotors
- New Battery
- New Fuel Filter
The Emissions Fix
2015 will require a two-stage repair to comply with emissions targets. The first is software based and will be done before delivery of the car to the customer. The second, stage 2 fix, will come at a later date and involve hardware changes. At the time of this writing the changes will include an additional NOx or O2 sensor in the exhaust, among other things. Owners will get notification in the mail when this fix is available.
