Chevrolet Cruze Diesel Fuel Filter Change (Gen 1)

   My filter and canister did part. The assembly just dropped and I am having a problem separating the canister to get to the filter. What should I do to get the canister to separate.
   Also how is the canister attached to the car since it dropped down and will have to be reinstalled.
