MkIV Jetta Winter Front Installation

We show you how to put the idparts Winter Front on your Mk. IV. The winter front helps your ALH or BEW engine warm up and stay warm when the temperature drops.

Transcript:

Today we’re going to install a winter front on a Mk. IV Jetta TDI. There’s three pieces to this winter front: the left, the right, and the lower middle.

The idea of a winter front is to block cold air from entering the engine in the winter months. If you drive a TDI you know that they take forever to warm up, and if you’re driving at low speeds or in a lot of traffic it may take a long time to get the heat to work. So by putting the winter front on you’re going to help your engine get warmer faster.

We’ll start with the right hand side grill. We’re going to take the top tab and slide it into this area between the bumper reinforcement and the grill. It should tuck in like that. Take the bottom tab, flip it over the grill, and slide it under the lowermost grill.

Same thing for the other side. We’re going to take the top tab and slide it into this area between the bumper reinforcement and the grill. Take the bottom tab, flip it over the grill, and slide it under the lowermost grill.

For the bottom we need to take the bottom grill out. It’s actually easier than you think. All you have to do is slide your fingers in here and look for two tabs that are on the outsides here. If you push those down, the grill will come right out. Take these three tabs and slide them into the three holes on the bottom grill from the back. Now pull the tabs back through the front of the grill and pull up.

The last thing to do is just pop the grill back in place, and you’re done.
